Nancy Nedveck
Nancy Nedveck, co-owner of The Flower Factory, has been involved in ornamental horticulture all of her adult life. Earning a degree in Horticulture from the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus began her Floriculture career which has now spanned over 30 years. The Flower Factory, a perennial nursery begun in 1984 with David, her husband, features the largest selection of perennials in the Midwest with over 4000 varieties of perennials, hostas, ornamental grasses, daylilies, prairie plants and wildflowers. All of these are housed in 14 greenhouses, 3 shade houses and many display areas open to the public. An additional 20 support greenhouses and coldframes are used to maintain a constant supply of garden-ready plants. Nancy is the person who selects and evaluates the 200 to 300 new varieties that are added to the plant inventory each year. These plants are then installed in the many display gardens to be found throughout the grounds of The Flower Factory. These gardens include Shade, Rock, Pond, Garden Railroad, Stream, Trough, and even a Roof Garden. Her many years of attention to detail have helped to hone a keen eye for the special and unique. Nancy also oversees and organizes the daily operations of The Flower Factory, managing a staff that numbers up to eighteen employees during the busy season. In her spare time, Nancy enjoys knitting and the craft of felting, having taught classes in felting at a Stoughton art studio. |
